Our mission
Since 2006, Home Security Guide has been on a mission to help homeowners and renters protect their homes. With roughly 2.5 million burglaries reported across the US each year (FBI/BJS) and a confusing array of products on the market, we set out to build a guide that is clear, honest, and independent.
We believe safety is a fundamental right. Everyone should be able to feel secure at home without needing to be a technical expert to choose the right equipment.
Independence
Our comparisons are made objectively. We are not exclusively tied to any brand, and our reviews are based on hands-on testing.
Expertise
Our team is made up of former security professionals and smart-home enthusiasts who rigorously test every product.
Transparency
We clearly explain our testing methods and selection criteria. Our goal is to give you everything you need to decide.
Why trust us?
- Real-world testing: We don't just read spec sheets. We install and use the alarms and cameras the same way you would in your own home.
- Constant monitoring: The security market moves fast. We update our guides regularly to reflect the latest innovations.
- An engaged community: We connect with our readers every day to answer their questions and understand their specific needs.
